Premature spaying of puppy

We purchased a beautiful Havanese female. She arrived in good condition and we have fallen in love with her. When we read her medical care in regard to sending her to us we saw that she had already been spayed. This is a cruel thing to do to a very young animal. The earliest she should have been spayed is at 6 months of age. I would even go so far as to say this is animal abuse and cruelty. This has set her up for several problems due to insufficient estrogen production including incontinence, which she has at this time. She is being treated for a mild UTI and we are hoping this will take care of her incontinence, but our vets (we have seen 2) were appalled that she had this procedure done prematurely. She has been on antibiotics for 3 days and her incontinence has not let up. Now we need to check for an anomaly, and then, if all is OK, start her on estrogen therapy. I believe the early spaying was done to protect the business enterprise because the pup certainly didn't benefit and we may have to live with a dog that will need to live in diapers! What a shame. This all could have been avoided if the breeders would have acquired our permission when we paid our $2,000.00. I am devastated by all of the ramifications of this thoughtless and cruel behavior on the side of the breeders.
