I purchased a Westie through Purebred Breeders vs. getting one locally because I wanted the health guarantee and she was to be a gift for a friend who had wanted one for years. I was told they screen the breeders, do home visits, make sure the puppies aren't from puppy mills, etc,. I would be getting that pup you see on the commercials. Clean, white, with a bow in her hair....NOT what I got. They charged ME "the buyer" a fee to go pick up the dog- a 2.5 hour drive! Then when confronted offered only a PetsMart gift card as partial credit- no thanks- I want my money back!!! The pup was dirty and smelled SO BAD I was beyond embarrassed, so when questioned about the stink, I had to lie and say she was a rescue during my first two flights so people would be more understanding! The crate I was provided was broken, so I couldn't travel with it. I had to purchase another one and then bathe the poor little thing myself before finding a groomer immediately to get her nails cut, hair whitened and trimmed before I would even dare present her as a gift! She didn't even come with puppy food so I had to guess on what she had been eating- poor girl threw up as my first guess was wrong! Unbeknownst to me -despite the "health check" which btw BUYERS- YOU pay for- she had a bladder infection which then cost even more to treat- it is NOT covered by their 30/60 day insurance they brag about- that is only for injury and they don't sign you up for it, you have to do that yourself! Again all complaints registered with them REPEATEDLY, and NOTHING, not a dime has been refunded! They blame it all on the breeder- just seems funny to me how the breeder got $800 and they got $1500 for ??? BUYER BE WARE!!! You could buy 3 dogs locally for what they charge and probably be much happier! It has been a month now, I have given them ample time to make this right with me- no luck so now I'm warning everyone else! Lesson learned! Sad!
